    Gordon Cooper's Air Force Campaign Hat with His Captain Bars Still Attached Originally from His Personal Collection, with Signed Letter of Authenticity. A Flight Ace-manufactured blue wool hat with silver bullion trim and a pair of captain's bars, "COOPER" and "Gordon Cooper" written on the inside band. Obvious wear with light mothing. Fine.

    Included with this lot is a signed LOA on his letterhead reading, in full: "This is my Air Force campaign hat that I wore at the time of my selection as a Mercury Astronaut for NASA. The interior band has my signature and hand printed name. It still has my Captain bars on it which was the rank I held in the United States Air Force in 1959."
