    Description

Gemini 9A Flown Gilt over Silver Fliteline Medallion with Hole for Attachment to Necklace, Originally from the Collection of Mission Pilot Gene Cernan, with Letter of Authenticity from Barbara Cernan. This 25mm x 19mm shield-shaped gold-colored sterling silver medal has the mission insignia on the front which depicts the Gemini spacecraft in rendezvous with an Agena Target Vehicle and a tethered astronaut forming the figure "9", all in front of a large Roman numeral "IX". The surnames of the crew and the mission dates are engraved on the reverse along with the sterling hallmark. A tiny hole has been drilled at the top. Near excellent.

Included with this lot is a signed LOA from Barbara Cernan Butler on her letterhead stating, in full: "The accompanying Gemini 9 gold medallion, later holed at the top to be added to a necklace, was flown aboard Gemini 9 by my husband Eugene Cernan June 3-6, 1966. I had a few of these medallions holed for my personal use and to give as gift to family members and close friends. This has been in my personal collection since the mission"

This was my first time dealing with an auction house, and I am 100% completely impressed with Heritage. There is not an aspect of this process that I have a critique for.
