    Gene Cernan's flown Filteline collection

Gemini 3 - Gemini 12 Flown Fliteline Medallions: Complete Set of Ten in Matching Silver Color, Originally from Astronaut Gene Cernan, with Individual Signed Letters of Authenticity. This is quite an historical group of medals tracing the progress of the U.S. space program from Gemini 3, our first two-man mission of just three orbits, to Gemini 7, a two-week mission that included the first manned space rendezvous with Gemini 6A, through to Gemini 12, which proved that man could work effectively outside of the spacecraft, all paving the way for the Apollo program to land on the moon. All ten flown Fliteline medals are included here, one from each manned flight of the Gemini program. Eight are round and 25mm in diameter; two are odd-shaped (Gemini 9 and Gemini 11). All are matched in silver coloring with five of them actually minted in sterling silver and hallmarked appropriately on the reverse (Geminis 3, 4, 5, 9, and 11). Each medallion features the mission insignia on the obverse with engraved flight dates and other data on the reverse. A real once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to obtain a complete collection from this legendary astronaut who would fly twice to the moon and is still, to this day, the "last man on the moon." The separate LOAs opens up opportunities for separate resale if so desired. Excellent.

Included with each medallion is a separate letter signed by Cernan on his personal letterhead. They read, as follows: "September 16, 2016/ To Whom It May Concern:/ I hereby certify that the silver Gemini [...] medallion which accompanies this letter was flown aboard the Gemini mission [...]/ As a member of the Astronaut Flight Office I was permitted to buy medallions from all missions that produced them./ This medallion has been part of my personal collection since the mission. [signed] Eugene A. Cernan/ Gemini and Apollo Astronaut." Each LOA has the specific information for the appropriate mission filled in.

Project Gemini was the second U.S. human spaceflight program with the objective of developing the techniques necessary for more advanced space travel, such as to the moon with the later Apollo program. Two unmanned missions were flown before the ten two-man flights. Of the sixteen astronauts that flew Gemini missions, eleven would later fly to the moon, and six would walk on the moon.
