    Description

Gemini 12 Flown MS62 NGC Silver Fliteline Medallion Directly From The Armstrong Family Collection™, Certified and Encapsulated by Collectibles Authentication Guaranty. This 25mm medal flew aboard Gemini 12 with crewmembers James Lovell and Buzz Aldrin, November 11-15, 1966. It features the mission insignia on the obverse with the Roman numeral "XII" at the twelve o'clock position and the Gemini capsule positioned like a clock's hour hand. This was the final Gemini flight and the crescent moon at left symbolizes the ultimate goal of the space program. The surnames of the astronauts are on the obverse. "Gemini Twelve" is struck on the reverse along with the engraved dates of the mission. This was Buzz Aldrin's first spaceflight; he would later, of course, accompany Neil Armstrong to the surface of the moon during the Apollo 11 mission. As a member of the astronaut office, Armstrong was allowed to purchase this medal. This lot will include a Statement of Provenance signed by Neil Armstrong's sons, Rick and Mark.
