    Charlie Duke Signed Apollo 16 Original NASA "Red Number" Lunar Surface Color Photo with Handwritten Description Directly from His Personal Collection, with Signed COA. A vintage chromogenic 10" x 8" print on Kodak fiber-based paper bearing the "A Kodak Paper" watermark on the verso of NASA image AS16-116-18580. It is boldly signed in blue felt tip: "This photo of the LM Orion/ shows the front of the/ LM, including the ladder/ and front hatch. The/ dark scratches on the/ photo is a result of/ lunar dust on the/ film./ Charlie Duke/ Apollo 16 LMP". A desirable original photo with a unique handwritten comments on the image from the photographer himself. Excellent.

    Included with this lot is a signed Certificate of Authentication from Duke on his letterhead. It reads, in full: "The accompanying photo of the LM 'Orion' was taken by me on EVA 3. It is one of a panoramic sequence that I took and shows the front of our Lunar Module 'Orion'. You can see clearly the ladder and the front hatch. The black marks on the photo are a result of lunar dust between the film and the reseau plate in the camera. It is an original NASA 'Red Letter' photo with number AS16-116-18580 printed on it. This original was presented to me after the film was developed at JSC after our flight. This photo bears silent witness to mankind's first journey to, and exploration of, the magnificent lunar highlands! Descartes Highlands of the Moon April 20-23, 1972."
