Boy Scouts XIII World Jamboree, Japan 1971, Handwritten Notes by Neil Armstrong, Directly From The Armstrong Family Collection™, CAG Certified.
On the back of a 1972-dated #10 envelope, Neil Armstrong wrote some notes regarding his attendance at the 1971 World Scout Jamboree in Japan. We feel that these may have been notes he made for a speech or to share with his father. They read: "July '71/ First World Jamboree where they arranged to have a Hurricane for Entertainment./ Most of the Boys were willing to brave the wind and water but leaders concerned about health hazards (sanitary facilities flooded)/ 73 (?) countries-/ 20,000 boys-/ 1 from Czechoslovakia (where scouting isn't allowed) Some from Communist countries including N. Vietnam, N. Korea/ Rick & Neil climbed to 8th station (out of 10) on Mt. Fuji with some Japanese Scouts". The Hurricane entertainment he mentions was Typhoon Olive which interrupted the proceedings. See previous lot for neckerchief from this Jamboree. Light wear and staining, fine. Sealed in a numbered archival sleeve, CAG 1002030-009. This lot will include a Statement of Provenance signed by Neil Armstrong's sons, Rick and Mark.

This was my first time dealing with an auction house, and I am 100% completely impressed with Heritage. There is not an aspect of this process that I have a critique for.
