    Boy Scouts: Neil Armstrong's Personal 13th World Jamboree Cap Directly From The Armstrong Family Collection™, CAG Certified. Red cotton billed cap with two white metal grommet vents on each side and elastic adjustment band in the rear. Triangular-shaped 13th World Jamboree patch machine sewn to front. The 13th World Jamboree was held August 2-10, 1971 on Asagiri Heights on the western side of Mount Fuji, in Fuginomiya, Japan. The Jamboree was interrupted by Typhoon Olive in which 16,000 participating Scouts were evacuated to shelters in the countryside for 48 hours. From Neil's handwritten notes of the time: "July '71/ First World Jamboree where they arranged to have a Hurricane for Entertainment./ Most of the Boys were willing to brave the wind and water but leaders concerned about health hazards (sanitary facilities flooded)/ 73 (?) countries-/ 20,000 boys-/ 1 from Czechoslovakia (where scouting isn't allowed) Some from Communist countries including N. Vietnam, N. Korea/ Rick & Neil climbed to 8th station (out of 10) on Mt. Fuji with some Japanese Scouts". Sweat stains on the sweatband, fading, fine. CAG 1002090-013. This lot will include an encapsulated CAG Photo Certificate with a Statement of Provenance signed by Neil Armstrong's sons, Rick and Mark.
