Association of Space Explorers 2019 "The Crystal Helmet" Planetary Award Presented to Dr. Christopher Columbus Kraft Jr., Directly from the NASA Legend's Estate, with Certificate of Authenticity. An absolutely beautiful glass sculpture that was posthumously awarded to Dr. Kraft in 2019, when the ASE held their annual Congress in Houston, Texas. The award is the highest honor bestowed by the association, and has been given to a sole individual annually since 1985. The week-long Congress is the largest yearly gathering of space explorers in the world. This particular meeting was held in Houston to commemorate the 50th anniversary of the Apollo 11 moon landing. The award features a glass sculpture of an astronaut helmet that sits upon a wooden stand. Engraved in the glass just below the helmet are the words: "DR. CHRISTOPHER C. KRAFT, JR./ ASE XXXII CONGRESS/ 2019 PLANETARY AWARD/ 'THE CRYSTAL HELMET'". Measuring an overall 7.5" x 4.25" x 4.25", the wooden base contains a small battery powered light that can be turned on to illuminate the helmet. An absolutely wonderful display item awarded to Dr. Kraft for his lifelong contributions to Space travel. Excellent.

We had a wonderful time in New York during the October 2013 Historical Manuscripts auction that featured my mother’s papers collected during her tenure as Martin Luther King, Jr.’s secretary. In fact, the entire experience from beginning to end has been a pleasure.
