    Description

    Space flown bread

Apollo-Soyuz Test Project Flown "Table Bread" Space Food Originally from the Personal Collection of Mission Docking Module Pilot Deke Slayton, with Kennedy Space Center Loan Paperwork. A 3" x 6" x 0.75" sealed plastic package containing ten cubes of dried bread. The package is labeled in both Russia and English: ""Хлеб столовый / Table bread 45 g/ No 4". On the verso are two vertical strips of Velcro with a tiny label, "DS-90-93" written in red ink. This item was formerly part of an Apollo-Soyuz exhibition at the Kennedy Space Center Complex, loaned out from the Slayton family. Included is a "Release of Artifacts per Loan Agreement" document mentioning this item and also an illustrated "Kennedy Space Center Visitor Complex Condition Report" detailing the condition of the item before it was returned to Bobbie Slayton. Several of the bread cubes have cracked, but most are still intact and naturally have hardened over time. Flown space food is always rare and this is the first Heritage has offered from this mission. See accompanying lot for a Coffee with Milk tube from the same collection. Included is an Ultra-Pro display case for display.
