    Description

Apollo Flown Kapton Foil (Numerous Pieces) and Two Ablative Plugs from the Estate of NASA Engineer Donald T. Hamilton. From the person who wrote the "Postflight Testing of Command Modules" NASA Technical Note (photocopy included), here are rare flown relics he saved from the processing of one of the flown Apollo CMs. The items described below were placed in a large ziplock bag at the time of the teardown, testing, and examination of one of the flown Apollo command modules. Unfortunately, he did not label which mission.
Kapton Foil: Likely a few dozen pieces. The largest is approximately 10" long. This material was used to cover the CM as a heat-deflecting device.
    Ablative Plugs:
Two complete, approximately twelve incomplete, and a quantity of powdered material, all of various sizes. These were threaded into holes to cover the bolts that were used to secure various access panels around the exterior of the spacecraft.
Since we cannot identify the spacecraft of which these were a part, they are being offered as is in the exact way we received them from the consignor at an attractive opening bid. Perfect for insertion into acrylic displays for resale. Fine. From the family collection of the late Donald T. Hamilton, a NASA engineer of 40+ years' service.
