    Description

The last TEI burn from the dark side of the moon

Apollo 8 Flown Page, Heavily Annotated, from the "Updates" Book Originally from the Personal Collection of Mission Command Module Pilot James Lovell, with Spaceflori COA. A 5" x 8" page from the "Maneuver" section of the flown book with a Part Number of "SKB 32100042-201" and the Serial Number "1003". The page is labeled "TEI+" on the front and "TEI-10" on the back. This Trans-Earth Injection (TEI) burn was exceedingly critical to their safe return home and it had to be performed on the far side of the moon, out of contact with earth. It was successful and right on time. When voice contact was regained with Mission Control, Lovell announced, "Please be informed, there is a Santa Claus", to which Ken Mattingly, the current CAPCOM, replied, "That's affirmative, you are the best ones to know." A fabulous piece of Space history, the calculations required to bring our first manned lunar mission back home to earth. Very fine. Included is a signed COA from Spaceflori, the purchaser of the original full book from Heritage in 2008.
