    Description

    Apollo 17 Splashdown Banner from the U.S.S. Ticonderoga Signed by Mission Commander Gene Cernan, in Framed Display. A 13.25" x 18.25" blue and gold embroidered banner with sewn-on cloth images of the command module and of the ship. Embroidered text reads: "Apollo 17/ Splashdown/ 19 December 1972/ U.S.S. Ticonderoga CVS14/ Captain Eugene A. Cernan". This was the ship that picked up the astronauts after their splashdown in the Pacific Ocean just four miles away. The image of the ship is signed: "Gene Cernan/ Apollo/ XVII/ CDR". Double matted and framed to an overall 21.25" x 26.75". Excellent.

    Included with this lot is a Novaspace Certificate of Authenticity for the Cernan autograph signed by Kim Poor stating, in part: "I certify that the signature of Gene Cernan is authentic and guaranteed to have been signed in person."
