    Description

    Apollo 17 Flown LEVA Helmet Interim Stowage Container with NASA/ MSC and Grumman Tags. This large bag, approximately 12" diameter at top, 13" tall, and 15" x 12" x 14" x 13" at the bottom, is made of white Beta cloth with brown straps with snaps to close the bag around the helmet. Also attached is a 1" x 3" metal clip (part number LDW340-10142-13) that was designed to attach the bag to the spacecraft in zero gravity. The label sewn on the bag reads: "Helmet/ LEVA/ Interim Stowage Container/ P/N SEB33100794-301/ S/N 1004/ Mfg by General Electric/ Date of Mfg. 10/71". Still attached are two NASA- Manned Spacecraft Center tags for "Helmet/LEVA, Interim Stowage Container" showing the delivery, inspection, and certification process for this item. Each tag is stamped "Flown AP 17". Also, a Grumman Aircraft KSC Quality Control tag with notations: "Loaded Apollo 17" and "Flown AP 17". Mentioned on page sixty-one of the Apollo 17 Stowage List (copy of page included). An excellent and unique item flown on man's last journey to the moon. Lightly soiled, very fine condition.
