    Description

    Apollo 15 Crew-Signed Insurance Cover Originally from the Personal Collection of Mission Command Module Pilot Al Worden (#3), with Signed LOA. A philatelic cover with the "Antarctic Treaty" 8¢ stamp (Scott #1431) affixed, bearing a pictorial machine cancellation from Kennedy Space Center dated July 26, 1971, the day that Apollo 15 was launched. The color cachet features the mission insignia with "NASA Manned Spacecraft Center Stamp Club" printed above and "Official Commemorative Cover" below with crew signatures around in black felt tip: "Dave Scott", "Al Worden", and "Jim Irwin". On the lower left corner of the verso is written "3/500" in pencil by Worden. Excellent condition. From the Steven R. Belasco Collection of Space Memorabilia.

    Included with this lot is a signed 2002-dated Letter of Authenticity on Worden's letterhead stating, in part: "I certify that this is my personal Apollo 15 insurance cover # 3 of 500, signed by David Scott, Jim Irwin and Al Worden, the crew of Apollo 15. These insurance covers were prepared and stored for us by the Manned Spacecraft Center stamp club for our families to have in the event we did not return from the flight."
