    Description

Apollo 14 Flown Beta Cloth Mission Insignia Directly from the Personal Collection of Mission Lunar Module Pilot Edgar Mitchell, with Signed LOA. This 8.75" x 8.5" mission emblem was flown aboard the Apollo 14 Command Module Kitty Hawk during its nine-day trip to the moon and back in 1971 along with crewmembers Alan Shepard, Stuart Roosa, and Edgar Mitchell. Made of fire resistant Beta cloth, developed by Dow-Corning, the 4" x 3.5" insignia depicts a NASA Astronaut Pin flying to the moon. Excellent condition.

Included with this lot is a signed letter of authenticity on his personal letterhead, stating (in part): "This letter is to certify that the accompanying Apollo 14 Beta Cloth crew patch was carried into lunar orbit aboard the spacecraft Kittyhawk in my personal preference kit (PPK) during the Apollo 14 mission to the moon and has been in my collection since that flight."
