    Description

    APOLLO 14

Apollo 14 Flown Ablative Plugs (Fifty-six) and Kapton Pieces (Seven) from the Estate of NASA Engineer Donald T. Hamilton. From the person who wrote the "Postflight Testing of Command Modules" NASA Technical Note (original copy included), here are rare flown relics he saved from the processing of the CM-110 after the Apollo 14 mission to the moon. We offer fifty-six 0.75" x 0.5" (approximate size) ablative plugs; these were threaded into holes to cover the bolts that were used to secure various access panels around the exterior of the spacecraft. In addition, seven curled-up strips of gold Kapton foil as removed from the spacecraft. These are all contained in the original zip lock bag where they have been stored for many years. Inside is a yellow sheet where Hamilton wrote "Apollo 14/ CM110". The bag contains a bit of dust from the plugs rubbing together. These are the last of the Apollo 14 flown items from this collection. Extremely rare material with excellent history. Fine. From the family collection of the late Donald T. Hamilton, a NASA engineer of 40+ years' service.

This was my first time dealing with an auction house, and I am 100% completely impressed with Heritage. There is not an aspect of this process that I have a critique for.
