    Made from treasure silver with a "diamond set on the spot of our landing site"

    Apollo 12 Flown MS64 NGC "Treasure Silver" Robbins Medallion, Serial #58, Set with Diamond and Made into Pin, Originally from the Personal Collection of Mission Lunar Module Pilot Alan Bean, with both Handwritten and Typed Signed Letters of Certification. This 32mm sterling silver medal was one of 262 flown to the moon aboard Apollo 12, November 14-24, 1969, with crewmembers Charles Conrad, Dick Gordon, and Alan Bean. The obverse of the medal features the mission insignia depicting a clipper ship arriving at the moon (it was an all-Navy crew), trailing fire and flying the U.S. flag. The reverse has the dates of the mission along with the serial number and the Robbins hallmark. A Choice Uncirculated example with a diamond set.

    Included with this lot is a 2013-dated handwritten and signed Letter of Certification from Bean on his letterhead stating, in full: "I hereby certify that silver Apollo 12 medallion, serial number 58, further identified by the diamond set on the spot of our landing site, and pin attachment on it reverse, was flown to the moon aboard our Command Module Yankee Clipper, November 14-24, 1969. This medallion is one of 82 struck from Treasure Silver salvaged by Kip Walker and Jim Rathmann from the 1715 Plate Fleet given to mission Commander Pete Conrad. The medallion has been part of my collection, since returning to Earth."

    Also included with this lot is a 2011-dated typed and signed Letter of Certification from Bean on his letterhead with similar, but less, text as above.
