    Description

Apollo 12 Embroidered Mission Crew Patch Originally from the Personal Collection of Mission Support Crew Member Paul Weitz, with Signed COA. A 4" diameter patch that, upon close examination, may actually be an example of the "Recovery Crew Patch" manufactured by Texas Art Embroidery as referenced at Chris Spain's site www.crewpatches.com. Excellent.

Included with this lot is a Certificate of Authenticity signed by Weitz from the Astronaut Scholarship Foundation stating, in full: "This certifies that the accompanying patch is a vintage AB Emblem Apollo 12 crew patch that was given to me during my astronaut career with NASA. This mission patch was made exclusively for the prime crew as a keepsake and to be given to their family and friends. The patch was designed by the Apollo 12 crew and done in gold and navy to represent their Navy backgrounds. The ship represents a Navy vessel and is seen docking on their lunar landing site. There are four stars in the patch, one for each of the crewmen and one for C.C. Williams who was scheduled to be the Lunar Module Pilot before his untimely death. This patch is from my personal collection."

We had a wonderful time in New York during the October 2013 Historical Manuscripts auction that featured my mother’s papers collected during her tenure as Martin Luther King, Jr.’s secretary. In fact, the entire experience from beginning to end has been a pleasure.
