    Description

Apollo 11 Flown Flight Plan Page 3-130 & 3-131 with Neil Armstrong Notations, Originally from the Personal Collection of Mission Lunar Module Pilot Buzz Aldrin, Signed and Certified, with Signed Extensive Letter of Authenticity. A 10.5" x 8" page numbered 3-130/3-131, three hole punched, from the mission's Flight Plan "P/N #SKB32100080-350" and "S/N 1001" (a copy of the front cover of this book is included with the lot). This page covers hours 190 to 192 of the mission. Aldrin has signed centered on the 3-130 side: "Flown to the Moon on Apollo XI Buzz Aldrin" and on the 3-131 side vertically at left: "Flown to the Moon Buzz Aldrin". An important relic from this historic flight. Excellent.

Aldrin describes the use and significance of this page in a signed LOA on his letterhead, reading as follows:
Enclosed with this letter is a sheet numbered 3-130 and 3-131 from the Apollo 11 Flight Plan, Part No. SKB32100080-350, S/N 1001. It is part of the entire document that was carried to the Moon in Command Module Columbia on the first lunar landing mission during July 16 to 24, 1969. This sheet is from the detailed timeline section and covers from hour 190 to the beginning of hour 192 in the mission.

"Page 3-130 lists the steps Neil Armstrong, Michael Collins, and I performed during our last day in space. We were a bit busy getting ready for re-entry. Our entry trajectory was so precise that plans for the MCC7 (Mid Course Correction) burn number 7 were not carried out. Neil marked a line through "RECORD MCC7 MNVR PAD & ENTRY PAD" since that burn was canceled. Neil also checked-off four other steps during this period after they were performed.

"Side 3-131 lists eight additional steps to prepare for re-entry. Again Neil marked through seven of those steps after completion and made a large check mark next to the IMU (Inertial Measurement Unit) P(rogram) 52 realignment step. At the upper right corner, Neil recorded the following values in the P52 (ENTRY REFSMMAT) data block of: "02, 04" for N(oun) 71, "000.00" for N(oun) 05, and the X, Y, Z components of N(oun) 93 of "-01.166, -00.690, +00.456" at a GET (Ground Elapsed Time) of "192:12:40" in hours, minutes, and seconds. REFSMMAT stands for Reference Stable Member Matrix. The drawing of the earth illustrates the expected view through our optical navigation equipment during this realignment procedure.

"Although Neil, Mike, and I were very busy during the period outlined on this sheet, we did have a chance to reflect on the accomplishments of the past few days - making the first lunar landing, the first lunar surface excursion, lift-off from the Moon, the lunar orbit rendezvous, and the return voyage back to earth. We would soon be making a splashdown in the Pacific Ocean on this last day of the first lunar landing mission, July 24, 1969.

"The flight plan was probably the single most important document related to the success of our mission. It provided a time schedule of crew activities and spacecraft maneuvers to accomplish the first lunar landing.

"This page has been in my private collection since 1969. I have written on side 3-130: 'Carried to the Moon on Apollo XI' and signed it near the center. I have also written: 'Flown to the Moon' and signed my name along the left side of 3-131. Additionally, a copy of the flight plan cover is enclosed."
