    Ex. Michael Collins

Apollo 11 Flown and Crew-Signed Beta Cloth Mission Insignia Originally from the Personal Collection of Mission Command Module Pilot Michael Collins, Signed and Certified, in Framed Display. A 5.5" x 5.5" (sight size) swatch of Beta cloth featuring a 3.375" diameter mission insignia depicting an eagle carrying an olive branch to the moon with the Earth in the distance, as designed by Michael Collins. This was flown aboard the Apollo 11 mission to the moon and signed beautifully in black felt tip: "Neil Armstrong", "Carried to the moon aboard Apollo XI/ July 1969/ Michael Collins", and "Buzz Aldrin". Beta cloth is made from fire-safe Fiberglass Beta yarns, originated and developed by Owens-Corning Fiberglas Corporation. It was used in the space suits worn by the Apollo astronauts. Nicely double matted and framed to an overall 12.5" x 12.5". A very desirable lunar-flown and crew-signed relic from this historic mission, the ultimate item for display. Originally sold as Lot 118 in the Swann Space Exploration Auction #2073, March 18, 2006. Excellent. From THE IRI COLLECTION.

On the verso is a photocopy of the original Letter of Authenticity from Michael Collins. It reads: "I certify that the enclosed 6" x 6" Beta cloth Apollo XI crew patch, signed by Neil Armstrong, Buzz Aldrin and myself, is from my Personal Preference Kit flown to the moon in 1969. All these signatures date back to 1969. I added the inscription at top approx. 25 years later. Michael Collins. Nov. 1, 2004".
