Used at Mission Control during the first manned lunar landing

Apollo 11 Flight Director Gene Kranz and Backup Lunar Module Pilot Fred Haise: Their Mission Control Badges with Individual Signed Letters of Authenticity. Two laminated badges with the special Apollo 11 graphic as worn by two very important people to the success of this mission. Both fine. Each accompanied by an LOA that explains the offerings in detail.

Text of Kranz's signed LOA: "The Apollo 11 MCC Temporary badge issued for my use that accompanies this letter, is from my personal collection of space memorabilia. Prior to being offered for sale though Farthest Reaches Inc., it has remained continuously in my possession. I entrust you to preserve this authentic piece of manned space program history and hope that you and others will enjoy it for years to come. It should serve as a constant reminder of not only our accomplishments during this period, but of the personal sacrifice that allowed us to forge a path from the Earth to the Moon and beyond."

And the text of Haise's signed LOA: "Displayed with this letter is a laminated badge issued to me during the flight of Apollo 11 back in July of 1969. It was to permit entrance into the Mission Control Center (MCC) at the Manned Spacecraft Center in Houston, Texas. The badge has my name 'Fred W. Haise' in bold type near the bottom. It is green in color and has a drawing of a LM descending to the lunar surface between a large number ' 1 1 ' while the CSM remains in lunar orbit. I served as back-up Lunar Module Pilot for Buzz Aldrin during Apollo 11 mission training. With this experience, it was natural to serve as a consultant during the actual flight in Mission Control. I was available during critical mission phases to support working any problems that developed. I wore this badge during those times while in Mission Control."

We had a wonderful time in New York during the October 2013 Historical Manuscripts auction that featured my mother’s papers collected during her tenure as Martin Luther King, Jr.’s secretary. In fact, the entire experience from beginning to end has been a pleasure.
