Apollo 11: Deluxe Framed Presentation including a Flown Silver Robbins Medallion MS66 NGC, a Crew-Signed Insurance Cover, a Neil Armstrong White Spacesuit Color Photo, and a Crew Patch by Texas Embroidery, all Directly From The Armstrong Family Collection™ and CAG Certified. An incredible display piece bearing the following important collectibles:

Apollo 11 Flown MS66 NGC Sterling Silver Robbins Medallion, Serial Number 276, Directly From The Armstrong Family Collection™, CAG Certified. This 28mm medal was one of 450 flown aboard Apollo 11, the first manned moon landing, July 16-24, 1969, with crewmembers Neil Armstrong, Michael Collins, and Buzz Aldrin. The obverse depicts Collins' early and original concept for the mission insignia with the eagle carrying an olive branch in its mouth. NASA thought the sharp, open talons of the eagle looked too "warlike" and the olive branch, representing peace, was moved to the claws. This is one of, if not the only, major official items that renders the insignia as it was meant to be by the astronaut designer. The reverse has the dates of the mission, surnames of the crew, and the serial number. A beautiful Gem Uncirculated example of this iconic medal. Sealed in a numbered archival holder, CAG 1000004-003.

Apollo 11 Crew-Signed "Type One" Insurance Cover. A philatelic cover with the "Apollo 8" 6¢ stamp (Scott #1371) affixed, machine canceled at Houston, Texas, on July 20, 1969, the day Apollo 11 landed on the moon. The color cachet features the text: "NASA Manned Spacecraft Center Stamp Club/ Official Commemorative Cover/ First Manned Lunar Exploration" above a colorful moon scene. It is boldly signed to the right in felt tip: "Neil Armstrong", "Michael Collins", and "Buzz Aldrin". A perfect display piece with the crew's signatures. Apollo 11 was the first flight in which insurance covers were utilized. Excellent. Sealed in a numbered archival sleeve, CAG 1000608-007.

Neil Armstrong White Spacesuit NASA Color Photo. An 8" x 10" NASA litho print, the famous pose. Excellent. Sealed in a numbered archival sleeve, CAG 1000248-001.

Apollo 11 Texas Art Embroidery Crew Patch of the Type Worn on Bio-Garments in Quarantine. A very desirable 4" diameter merrowed edge embroidered patch as was issued only to NASA and the crew, the highest quality of all the Apollo 11 patch variations. Excellent. Sealed in a numbered archival sleeve, CAG 1002083-003.

Professionally and archivally matted and framed to an overall 25.5" x 17.5", ready for your home or office wall. This lot will include a Statement of Provenance signed by Neil Armstrong's sons, Rick and Mark.

We had a wonderful time in New York during the October 2013 Historical Manuscripts auction that featured my mother’s papers collected during her tenure as Martin Luther King, Jr.’s secretary. In fact, the entire experience from beginning to end has been a pleasure.
