    Description

Apollo 1 Embroidered Mission Insignia Patch by Lion Brothers Directly From The Armstrong Family Collection™, Certified and Encapsulated by Collectibles Authentication Guaranty. A 3.5" diameter patch designed by the crew picturing the Command/ Service Module orbiting the earth above the Florida launch point with the moon (the eventual target of the program) in the distance. The Apollo 1 flight was scheduled for a February 21, 1967, liftoff, but tragedy struck on January 27 when all three crewmembers perished in an onboard fire during a pre-launch test. A poignant reminder of America's first space-related tragedy. Excellent, sealed in a numbered archival holder. This lot will include a Statement of Provenance signed by Neil Armstrong's sons, Rick and Mark.

A portion of the proceeds will benefit the Astronauts Memorial Foundation.

The pre and post sales experience was wonderful and flawless. Heritage has the best in-house operation I have ever seen and their people are not only professional but fun to work with, especially Steve C.

As for Heritage's online system… Yes the interface is more complex than what we are used to with SAN but what is behind that interface is amazing for sellers and buyers alike. It is real time and for a real serious auction buyer there is nothing better in the auction industry, bar none.
