    Main Bus B Undervolt

"CAUTION AND WARNING SYSTEM" 1970 Electronic Box Created for, Presented to, and Directly from the Estate of NASA Legend Chris Kraft, with Certificate of Authenticity. A 10.25" x 6" x 3.25" wooden box-jointed component with a metal front containing twenty-four small "fake" buttons, all but one bearing the name of a potential warning that would cause a problem during a mission, all of which were certainly found on the Mission Control panel. There is an engraved plate at lower right: "TO CHRIS KRAFT FROM THE SYSTEMS GUYS MARCH 1970", possibly given as a gag gift. Above that is a large working button titled "Master Alarm". When plugged in, pressing this button lights up all of the warning buttons (a flight director's nightmare). We note that one of these buttons did lead to a near-fatal disaster just one month after the date of this box, a "MN BUS B UNDERVOLT," the first sign of a problem on Apollo 13. Absolutely unique. Light wear, very fine. Kraft kept this in the west bookcase of his home office.
