    Description

    COLE & JOHNSON TROUPE..

Please note: Autographs from the Leonard Finger collection have not been autenticated by Spence/Grad but we believe these autographs to be as stated.

14 x 21" mounted photograph by Baker’s Art Gallery of Columbus, Ohio. A unique image of a predominently Black group of actors, along with managers. Believed to depict Ernest Hogan with the Cole & Johnson traveling show. The gentleman in the top right corner is Ray Comstock, a famous manager. This show appeared on Broadway, but this image dates from a stopover in Ohio, circa 1903-4. Chipping and wear to mount at corners, image unaffected.

‡ The owner placed a late bid on this unreserved lot and repurchased it, subject to applicable commission.
