    Description

Polyphon 19 5/8" Upright Coin-Op Disc Music Box on Disc Storage Cabinet. Produced by Polyphon Musikwerke, Leipzig, Germany, Serial #7895, accepts 5 Centimes coin from either left or right side of cabinet, playing two combs of wide alternate strike teeth with automatic guard over star wheel gantry, on stipple patterned cast iron bedplate with maker's name, glazed motor cover, in walnut cabinet, the glazed door with turned pilasters, flat fronted coin drawer, and pediment above, on associated disc bin, with ten discs.
The automatic guard protects the star wheels and musical teeth from improper loading or removal of discs. The popularity of these instruments in taverns may have been the motivation for such a safeguard.
