    Robeson and Lee were the first two Black actors in the United States to be taken seriously for their dramatic roles. The Robeson material in this lot includes: production still from "Showboat", program for "The Great Conspiracy Against Russia", Cambridge Summer Theatre program for "Othello", 1946 ticket for benefit recital in Harlem (B. C. Robeson, Pastor), "Playbill" program for "Othello", fold-out and promo card for "John Henry", program for 1940 recital at Lewisohn Stadium, large Theatre Guild program for "Othello" and an 11 x 14" publicity still for Jose Ferrer, Uta Hagen, and Irene Selznick (Ferrer and Hagen costarred in "Othello"). The Lee material includes: two flyers for "On Whitman Avenue" and two for "Native Son", 1945 "Playbill" for "The Tempest", two identical "Playbill" programs for "Native Son" and a "Native Son" production still.
