Please note: Autographs from the Leonard Finger collection have not been autenticated by Spence/Grad but we believe these autographs to be as stated.

Henry Birkhardt Harris (1866-1912) was a theatre manager in New York. He and his wife, Irene, were 1st class passengers on board the ill-fated "Titanic". Like many, the Harris’ were victims of the diasaster. Mr. Harris’ body was never recovered. His friends and associates on Broadway were shocked and devastated by the loss. Out of respect, they commissioned a memorial booklet which we offer here. It consists of six pages, custom engraved and decorated. They are bound with a ribbon in a 9 x 12" black leather portfolio with purple moire silk liner. The first page has a portrait of Harris. The first two pages tell the tale..."Whereas, that most dreadful and dire disaster, the sinking of the steamship ‘Titanic’, on April 15, 1912, has taken from us our benefactor and friend Henry B. Harris. Whereas, that in his demise the theatrical profession, and the Theatrical Protective Union No. 1 of New York, in particular, has met with an irreparable loss, that Henry B. Harris by his many acts of kindness, his consideration and loyalty to his immediate employees, had so endeared him to the members of the Theatrical Protective Union that we feel his loss a personal calamity, Therefore be it resolved...." etc. extending the "sympathy of all" to the widow and family. Excellent condition and a poignant souvenir of the terrible calamity which still resonates to this day.
