Very Nice US M1860 Light Cavalry Saber With The Original Knot. Blade generally bright and clean, untouched with just some minor small scattered stains, absolutely no rust pitting or nicks, very fine. Marked "U. S. / R. P. (L) / 1862" on the obverse ricasso and "PROV. / TOOL / CO." on reverse. Hilt about perfect with dark patina. Actually retains the vestiges of what appears to have been an old coat of black paint. Marked with large number "36" on the obverse face of the pommel cap. Leather and wire wrap on grip also about perfect. Retains the original 7/8" wide wrist strap, adjusting loop, and sword knot, in excellent sound condition, missing just the ends of a few tassel strands. Scabbard about mint retaining 99% of what appears to be a period gray/blue finish. Two large numbers stamped/overstamped on the drag. Choice example and very desirable with this early date.

From the estate of Houston collector Brent Burg.
