    U.S. Starr Contract of 1818 Cavalry Saber. 32-inch single-edge blade with a clipped point and rudimentary false edge. Broad fuller running to within about 6-inches of the tip. Obverse ricasso marked "US / P / LS / NS STARR". Wood grips with leather wrap. Japanned iron knuckle bow pierced near the pommel for a sword knot. Dated 1821 on the lower face of the knuckle bow. Japanned iron scabbard with two mounting rings.

    Condition: Very good. Black with almost uniform dark patina and a few trivial nicks in the cutting edge. Leather grip with two very small areas of loss. Scabbard retaining approximately 40-50% japanned finish the remainder with scattered surface rust.
