    Description

    U.S. Model 1860 Light Cavalry Saber Manufactured by Ames, 1863. Regulation pattern with a blade measuring 34 ½", dated 1863 on the obverse ricasso and with the Ames company information on the reverse ricasso. Gilded-brass hilt and wooden grip which is lacking most of the leather covering and all of the wire wrapping. The blade has scattered dark age spots, a few deep nicks in the cutting edge but is otherwise in good condition. The metal scabbard has several dents, especially near the drag and has been painted black.
