    U.S. Model 1840 Heavy Cavalry Saber. 36" slightly curved, unmarked blade (possible European manufacture). Brass half-basket guard, wire-wrapped leather grip. Iron scabbard with two suspension rings. Blade dark with age but unsharpened. Some loss to the leather grip. Scabbard with a few heavy dents and light surface pitting near the drag, otherwise in good condition.
