    U.S. Model 1840 Heavy Cavalry Saber and 1850 Foot Officers' Sword.
    1.) Model 1840 heavy cavalry saber with a 35 ½-inch curved blade stamped "N. P. Ames / Cabotville / 1847" on the obverse side and "US / RC" on the reverse side. Brass hilt with wire-wrapped leather grips. Iron scabbard with two carrying rings. 2.) Model 1850 foot officers' sword with a 31 ¾-inch slightly curved, bright blade etched with floral designs, a panoply of arms, eagle and "US". C. Roby and Company maker's mark on the obverse ricasso. No scabbard.

    Condition: 1.) Very good. Blade with an overall gray patina and some nicks in the cutting edge; scabbard with scattered light pitting and lacking one throat screw. 2.) Very good.
