    U.S. Model 1840 Cavalry Saber by Sheble & Fisher. Having a 35-inch curved blade, the ricasso marked: Sheble & Fisher/Philada. One wide fuller. Standard brass three-bar guard. Brass wire-wrapped black leather ribbed grip. Original steel scabbard with ring mounts. Nicknamed "the Old Wristbreaker" for its reputation for breaking wrists in cavalry charges, it was the standard U.S. cavalry saber for approximately 20 years. Condition: Very good. Metal with light wear, pitting and spotting. Hilt with age wear and patina. Scabbard with age wear, patina and what appears to be a bullet impact dent under the top mount.
