US M1860 Cavalry Sabre with Nice Period ID. Unusual example, simply dated 1861 on the ricasso with no maker's or inspector's marks. Nicely ID'd on scabbard throat with individual die stamps, "H. L. Conner". Beyond the obviously period ID we have no provenance as to its background. Blade generally smooth and gray with just some scattered salt and peppering. Scabbard excellent with a just a few scattered spots of light pitting and one dent near the drag. Period ID on the scabbard throat crisp and untouched, unquestionably period. Grip retains most of the original leather and one strand of the original twisted brass wire. Unusual and interesting variant of the M1860 light cavalry sabre with unquestionably period ID.
