U.S. M1833 Dragoon Equipment Set, Regulation M1833 Dragoon Saber with Quill Back Blade. The nicest complete US M1833 dragoon equipment set we've ever offered, completely untouched. Regulation M1833 Dragoon saber with quill back blade, marked in engraved script on the obverse "N. P. Ames / Cutler / Springfield / 1837" and on the reverse "United States" over laurel sprigs. Blade with no nicks, rust or pitting and just some surface staining that would clean nicely and likely leaving some original luster. Brass guard about perfect with dark patina. Grip excellent although retaining only one strand of the coiled spring wire, which can now, as the proper wire is being produced, be easily replaced. Deep TW inspector's mark on reverse of quillon and retaining the original leather washer. White buff sword knot with 0.5" wide straps and retaining both woven adjusting loops. Scabbard about perfect, with just one very shallow, really negligible dent and deep dark untouched patina. Scabbard still attached to the original white buff leather saber belt with the unique split rings. Belt 2" wide, with 1" wide sword suspension slings. Ink stenciled maker's mark on inside of belt (appears to be Dingee). Very rare stud back oval US plate with thin brown leather covering the lead filled back. Likely maker marked but we chose not to disturb and potentially damage the leather. Belt shows its age, being slightly darkened, but as supple and sound as the day it was made with no tears, weak spots, or open stitching. An extremely rare regulation set of U.S. equipment in superb untouched condition.
