US Eaglehead Officer's Straight Sword C. 1830. The 29 1/2" straight blade retains just traces of the original blue and gilt decoration with scattered pitting ranging from salt and peppering to light. The hilt is excellent with the guard ending in a scroll with spread wing eagle and shield surrounded by scrollwork. Knucklebow decorated with arms trophies and open mouthed slender eagle pommel. Bone plaque grips perfect with nice patina, the wire appears to be a replacement. Brass straps on either side of the grip with leaf decorated 1/2" brass ferrule at the base. Small reverse counterguard with scroll decoration and the turned down flat quillon decorated with incised lines. Nice representative sword.

From the estate of Houston collector Brent Burg.
