    U.S. Eagle Pommel Sword, Circa 1820-1840.

    31 1/2-inch straight blade with large fullers on either side. Simple gilt-enhanced etching on each side featuring foliate designs and a panoply of arms against a blued background. Gilded-brass hilt with Federal eagles on each langet and detailed eagle-head pommel with open beak gripping an oval wreath at the top end of the knuckle bow. Clamshell quillon. One-piece carved bone grip. No scabbard.

    Condition: Good. Blade is slightly bent and has an overall smooth dark patina with traces of the blued panels on either side. The blade's tip has been rounded. The edge has moderate to heavy nicks. Traces of the gilding remain on the hilt.
