Unmarked Confederate Civil War Foot Officer's Sword Likely The Product Of Leech & Rigdon, Memphis, Tn. 31 1/2" straight blade with shallow unstopped fuller extending to within 7" of the tip. Generally smooth and gray with just a few tiny patches of light pitting, no edge nicks. Retains the original leather washer. Hilt of regulation M1850 form but with leaf like decoration cast on the underside of the guard radiating from the blade and tobacco leaves cast on the top portion of the guard. Also exhibits the rather distinctive truncated ovoid rosette on the face of the pommel observed on swords by this firm. Hilt overall in perfect untouched condition with nice patina. The grip is polished wood, shows no signs of ever having been covered and retains what is obviously the original twisted brass wire. There is no scabbard. A nice representative, untouched example of a Confederate foot officer's sword by a known maker.
