    Two Sheffield Lockback Knives.
Comprising: (2)?Circa 1830-1837. 5-1/2"?closed lockback folding dirk knife with dagger ground blade having a fancy pyramidal tang area, marked W(crown)R, W &?T MARSH PATENT?CUTLERY. Beautifully textured stag handle scales with a couple of minor cracks. Unusual brass scabbard fits inside handle when closed. Blade has been lightly cleaned, latch pin may be a replacement, scabbard with minor damage. Excellent. (3) Circa 1840s-1850s. 5-1/2" closed folding bowie knife with unmarked clip point blade, likely by John B. Hobson of Sheffield (identical marked examples are known). Horn handle scales with inlaid mother of pearl discs and nickel silver foliate guard and pommel.
    (2) Not connected directly to the better known Marshes and Shepherd or Marsh Brothers firms, William and Thomas Marsh's operation apparently ended with Thomas' death in January 1838.
