    Two 19th Century American Swords. As follows. (1) Model 1860 Foot Officers' sword with a 31" blade etched for 2/3 its length with patriotic motifs, marked at the obverse ricasso "W.H. Horstmann & Son Philadelphia" and stamped with a Kings' Head proof on the reverse ricasso. Blade is mostly smooth and gray with a few patches of dark staining, clear etching. Ray skin grip intact, wire wrap is loose in places but mostly complete. Brass guard with an undisturbed patina. (2) Early 19th Century reverse "P" guard militia sword with a 26 3/4" blade marked at the obverse ricasso "P.Knecht", and the reverse ricasso "Solingen". Blade is dark with areas of surface roughness. Brass guard / backstrap exhibit a dark undisturbed patina. Leather grip 80% complete.
