Very Fine US M1860 Light Cavalry Saber Pro. Tool Co. With Original Knot. Blade very fine, smooth and gray with absolutely no rust, pitting or nicks. Marked on obverse ricasso "U. S. / ( ) / 1862" and on reverse "PROV / TOOL / CO.". Hilt about perfect with nice light patina, marked with several small numbers on the quillon and where the guard enters the pommel. Grip excellent with just a few small spots worn through to the wood from honest heavy use, brass wire wrap tight. Retains the original 5/8" wide wrist strap with adjusting loop and sword knot, all excellent with the knot appearing to be completely intact. Very fine scabbard, about perfect, with smooth dark patina and no rust, pitting or dents. Choice example of a M1860 Light Cavalry saber including the early date and knot.

From the estate of Houston collector Brent Burg.
