    U.S. Ames Contract of 1833 Dragoon Saber.
    34-inch slightly curved single-edge blade with a quill back that runs the entire length. The blade is etched near the hilt on the obverse side "N.P. Ames / Cutler / Springfield / 1836" and etched "United States" in script over a floral spray on the reverse side. Brass hilt is inspector marked on one side of the quillon and "M.P.L / ORD" on the grip side of the quillon. Wire wrapped leather grip. Metal scabbard with two carrying rings.

    Condition: About very good. Blade with a smooth gray patina and evidence of some light sharpening. Grip retains approximately 50% of the leather covering. Scabbard with pitting and moderate to heavy dents.
