Untouched Thomas Griswold & Co. Confederate Naval Cutlass. Wasp waisted 20 3/4" blade with deep dark patina. Much of the blade with smooth gray patina, with some scattered areas of light to medium pitting. Absolutely no sharpening and just one tiny, really negligible, nick. Deeply marked at the base of the blade on the obverse "T. G. & Co / N. O." Brass hilt with guard showing high copper content, with some minor crudeness in finish exhibited on the heavy turned down quillon. Small circular slot for knot at the top of the guard. Hilt overall absolutely perfect with deep, dark, untouched patina overall. Really the ultimate in condition for a Confederate sword. Very desirable example of this scarce primary Confederate sword.
