    U. S. Model 1860 Light Cavalry Saber Manufactured by Emerson & Silver. A standard sword as manufactured by the uncommon maker Emerson & Silver, Trenton, New Jersey. The blade measures approximately 35" and is marked "U.S./D.F.M/1864" on the obverse ricasso and with the poorly struck maker's mark on the reverse. The blade is darkened with age, with a few minor nicks and small areas of surface pitting. The leather grip and wire wrap are intact, albeit a bit dry. The scabbard's surface is coated in light surface scuffs and rust and the throat is lacking. Otherwise, it is a nice example in very good condition.
