    Presentation Grade, Silver-Handled Sword Presented to the "Captain of the Lone Star Guards".
    High quality, cruciform guard, with a full figural American eagle pommel cap, floral & geometrically engraved, octagonal silver handle, the crossguard decorated in relief with a liberty cap on pole, spears and acanthus leaves, the double-edge single-fullered blade etched with military and floral motifs, a banner marked "W. H. Horstmann & Sons, Philadelphia". The brass scabbard is fully engraved on the obverse side with floral motifs and, on the reverse side, in period script engraving: "Presented to Captain A. Henderson by the Officers & Members of the Lone Star Guards, Feb. 22nd 1854." There is also a raised Horstmann maker's scroll emblem by the throat and three raised floral mounts for attachment to a sword belt.
