    Presentation Cavalry Saber Identified to Frederick W. Huxford, Co. A, Michigan 1st Engineers, Cashiered in 1862.
    An attractive sword made in the 1860 cavalry saber style and featuring a gilded brass hilt decorated with foliate designs. Leather covered grips and brass wire wrapping. Gilded metal scabbard with ornamented mounts. The scabbard is engraved on the obverse side: "Presented to / 1st Lieut. F. W. Huxford / By Co. A. 1st Regt. Mich. Engrs. & Mechs. / as an Officer & Soldier".

    Huxford was a resident of Albion, Michigan who enlisted at the age of 28. He enlisted on August 22, 1861 with the rank of lieutenant. He served with the regiment until he was cashiered for unknown reasons on July 17, 1862.

    Condition: Very good. Uniform darkening on the blade.
