    Description

Nice, Untouched, Quintessential Confederate Civil War 'Dog River' Cavalry Saber. 35 1/2" curved blade with unstopped fuller that runs open to within 1/4" of the guard and 6" of the tip. Generally deep dark patina with a coat of light pitting covering much of the blade, which is completely untouched, as is the entire sword. Just one tiny, really negligible, edge nick near the tip. Classic M1840 style high copper content brass guard with a couple of obvious casting flaws and rather rough finish on the edges of the branches. There is a smooth concave panel on the underside of the guard. 1840 style pommel cap. The hilt is absolutely perfect with wonderful untouched dark patina. The leather grip with single strand iron wire wrap also about perfect. A nice, totally untouched, example of a classic Confederate locally manufactured enlisted cavalry saber.
