    Mid 18th Century Scottish Basket Hilted Broadsword. 42-inches overall with 34 1/4-inch unmarked blade. The blade is 1 3/8-inch wide at the base with rudimentary ricasso and utilizes a wide shallow fuller that runs open to near the tip and a deep narrow fuller along the back edge that extends to within 9-inches of the tip. Pierced basket constructed of separate pieces forged together with rolled scroll type 1 3/4-inch quillon. Edges of the piercings with cut decoration and the branches fluted. Dome shaped pommel with deep wide incised line decoration and capstan. Shagreen grip with twisted and woven brass wire wrap.
    Condition: Very good. Blade generally grey with salt and peppering, very light pitting and a few patches of old surface rust. Interior of the basket with deep dark patina and some surface rust, the exterior light grey and some salt and peppering.
