Mid 18th Century German Infantry Hanger. 20 3/4" curved blade with narrow deep fuller along the top. Engraved decoration on the obverse side of the blade of crown over, lion poised on a shield, brandishing a sword, over "Sur Gott / und dos / Vatterland". The reverse with the same lion brandishing a sword over an arms panoply. The number "35" visible on the back of the blade. Blade generally smooth and clean with some light salt and peppering and a small chip at the tip. The classic form all brass hilt is we believe a replacement from another sword and is marked on the ball pommel in block letters "ZUG MICOL 1 46". Hilt excellent with a couple of brass spacers/washers a bit loose, but brass wire wrap nice and tight. Brass throat and tip with ball finial. The throat with a small bracket for insertion of leather tab. The brown leather body is hand stitched along the bottom and reinforced with glue at the back but also possibly an old replacement. The mounts are held in place with small brass staples. Good representative example.

This was my first time dealing with an auction house, and I am 100% completely impressed with Heritage. There is not an aspect of this process that I have a critique for.
